Rama First Nation leadership and Administration staff are working to protect our community members and staff during this health emergency.  Medical advisors continue to remind us that containment will help to spread transmission of the virus. The information below offers answers to some of the common questions we are hearing. This information is intended as guidance and not medical direction.  Please contact Rama Health, your medical practitioner, Simcoe Muskoka District Health or the Public Health Agency.

Rama Information Updates

We will provide updates in the following ways:

·       The Facebook page (Our Home)

·       Rama First Nation Website Members Only Section at www.ramafirstnation.ca

This is a rapidly changing situation and we ask that you rely on appropriate sources of information for updates.  Misinformation may lead to unnecessary panic and uninformed choices that could create unnecessary risks (i.e. going to spaces in crowds, etc.). .

In addition to Rama First Nation Administration sources, we recommend that you look at these sites for information:

Health Information Contacts:

Public Health (705) 721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520

After Hours – 1-888-225-7851

Telehealth – 1-866-797-0000 (24/7)

Rama Health Centre – 705-325-3611 – ext. 1600

The Rama Health Centre will remain open in the coming weeks to assist in providing care and information for our members.  Please call with health concerns, as we would like to reduce the traffic at this site as well.  They are working with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit to both monitor and gear up to handle any cases of the infection in our community.

We are doing everything we can to both protect and inform you during this health crisis.  We are implementing screening procedures (asking questions like if you have a fever or have travelled out of Country, etc.), prior to booking appointments with visiting health professionals and for all medical transportation and home support transportation. This is part of the necessary precautions to ensure our health staff remain healthy and able to serve the community.
